Moving Thunderbird to a new computer
I remember last time I did this it was frought with issues. I am looking at the article that moves "Data" via copy and pasting the Tbird folder in Roaming. Assuming that goes well in and of itself, no mention is made of the Address Book/Contacts data. Is that included?? If so, the following about address books is hopefully moot.
I did take minute and looked at an article about moving the address book by itself via creation of a csv file. I did so just to see and I could tell from the file contents that the column names themselves and address data commas don't line up. Seeing that reminded me that I almost had to rewrite the csv file to get the csv file to match your program. For example, the csv file does not have a column name of "display", but does have "Middle name". An entry's properties page has Display but no Middle Name boxes. Am I doing something wrong. This cannot be right. Thanks!!

The article that explains how to transfer the Thunderbird folder doesn't mention address books, as the process transfers everything in the profile folder(s), including mail, address books, add-ons, account settings, calendars etc. If you want to transfer address books separately, export them in LDIF format and import to the other computer. This is simpler than working with csv files, but won't include mailing lists if they are present.
One more thing about transferring data from a TB 68 setup: it works best if the version of TB is the same on both computers, but even if it's exactly the same, you might get an error message on starting TB the first time on the target computer (see attached picture). If this happens, click Exit, then start Profile Manager from Windowskey+R, type thunderbird.exe -p select the profile, usually named default, and TB should open correctly.
