I'm just started using Thunderbird 68.8.1 with Lightening and Provider for Google Calendar. I want to be able to sync Lightening with my Google Calendar in both directions - i.e. I can see events created in Google on Lightening and events created in Lightening on Google.

Sync seems to work very well from Google to Lightening - all of my events and all of the calendars I subscribe to in Google appear in Lightening.

However, none none of the events I create in Lightening appear in my Google Calendar.

In Google, my primary calendars are called: "Company Calendar - Google" and "Personal Calendar - Google" In Lightening, the events are recorded under "Company Calendar - TB"

When I go to Google Calendar, I don't see any of the events on Company Calendar - TB, nor does it give me the option to subscribe to that calendar.

1. How can I tell if the sync is working properly in the Lightening --> Google direction? 2. If sync is working properly, how can I subscribe to the Company Calendar - TB calendar on Google Calendar?

Many thanks.

When you first start up lighting it create a local calendar. I am guessing that is the one you are calling company calendar TB.

In the list of calendars on the left of the calendar tab in Thunderbird right click the calendars in question and select properties. If the location is given as moz-storage-calendar:// the calendar is only local for that instance of Thunderbird.

I would guess you would want two calendars in the list, both with network addresses.

Matt, you're right - the calendar I call Company Calendar TB has a location of moz-storage-calendar://

Do you know how I can get a network address for this calendar or make it a network accessible calendar? Or, how I can save events from Lightening into a network calendar like Company Calendar -Google?

OK, so I see that when I manually create an event in Lightening, it gives me the option as to what calendar I want to use. And, I found a clever workaround to get Company Calendar - Google as the default calendar for manually created events:

"There is a much easier way. Open the Lightning calendar tab. In the left pane uncheck all the calendars except the one you want to be your default. Then create an event (you can delete it later). Now go back and turn on all your other calendars. The calendar you just created the event with will now be your default calendar."
