Why did the new Adobe update state it would erase Mozilla, and cause me to abort the new download?

I was asked today to update my Adobe Flash Player. I began doing so, but stopped when a red stop indicator and message saying Adobe was taking off Mozilla. I want to retain Mozilla Firefox since it has worked excellently, but ask you why Adobe is making this demand and what recourse do I have?

Are you sure that message wasn't that Firefox needed to be closed to proceed with the installation of Adobe Flash?

Thanks. When Adobe prompts another download, I'll understand I should turn off Mozilla. It would have helped if Adobe used the English language. I'll have to remind Chuck Geske, its retired founder and CEO but still on its board, the next time I see him.
