Whenever I open Firefox, a yellow screen appears for a second before it loads my homepage. When this started happening, all of a sudden any streaming video I try to play on sites such as Youtube take ages to get started. Once started they load fine, but the initial start will take anywhere from 2-3 minutes, when it used to be completely instant.

I started getting the yellow screen and slow videos when I clicked on a phishing link awhile ago. It was to a chatroom, but the link was one letter off. I got a message from my antivirus telling me it had removed the virus which turned out to be a trojan. I have run several scans since then but nothing comes up.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

I have one antivirus, and it doesn't seem like it is blocking anything at all.

it blocks anything that is a video for a couple of minutes, to check it is not rude, but if it is rude, it won't let you watch it, but it seems most of the videos aren't rude/ offensive. which means it still has to check it first.
