YouTube videos show up as an empty black box but work when embedded on other websites

This happened just yesterday. When I try to view YouTube videos off of the YouTube website, they show up as an empty black box. However if the video is embedded on another site then it will play. Also, about a week ago the arrows in the bottom right corner of the YouTube video to expand the video no longer work.

I know it's not my computer because the videos work in IE. Also, I just updated my Firefox to 8 to try and fix this problem but it didn't work.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
