I just recently upgraded to Firefox 13.0.1 and received the email touting the new tab thumbnail feature, the only problem is when I go to try and download the new feature I get an error message stating that my version of Firefox is outdated and the tab thumbnail will not work with it and to upgrade.

Did each one as shown, but it only opened a new tab with no thumbnails again. So I'm stumped as to why it's not working and my Firefox doesn't show Windows or Firefox 13 in the lower right sidebar.

There is a built-in new tab feature. If you press Ctrl+t or click the "+" icon on the tab bar, you should get a new tab showing nine thumbnails of recently/frequently visited pages.

What is the one you're trying to download?

Here's what I get each time I try to get the thumbnail feature to work. I clicked on the CTRL+T with no results. It opened a new tab but there were no thumbnail images showing at all.

That's odd; I have no idea why that page appears. If you look at the bottom of the right sidebar, usually it will say Windows and Firefox 13 when you are running Firefox 13. This is auto-detected using a script. Perhaps the script is not running correctly inside a "new tab"? If you click in the address bar and press Alt+Enter to launch the page in a new tab, does the version detection work correctly?

Anyway, to try to fix this, could you look at a hidden setting?

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the filter box, type or paste newtab and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the browser.newtab.url preference and enter the desired value:

(i) Page thumbnails (default)

browser.newtab.url = about:newtab

(ii) Blank tab

browser.newtab.url = about:blank

(iii) Built-in Firefox home page

browser.newtab.url = about:home

(iv) Any other page

browser.newtab.url = full URL to the page

Press Ctrl+t to open a new tab and verify that it worked. Fingers crossed.
