How did Keepass install itself? I signed on as usual to Fiirefox this morning and there was Keepass, unwanted. All my tabs were removed. If this was a new version of FF I had previously not checked the automatic update feature.

Why does FF have to change so often? It screws things up whenever you do this.

According to my Helpdesk, it turns out Eskeepass is a Google thing...which was comforting in a way. Something I clicked on while doing a Google search evidently caused this page to replace my homepages in Firefox and IE....only needed to change them back to what they were; there's nothing malicious involved.

I'm not sure how you got KeePass on your computer if you did not install it yourself. It is possible it came bundled with another piece of software? Firefox does not have keepass bundled, and never has had any-third party software bundled with it.

Have you been able to uninstall keepass? Disable or remove Add-ons can help you if you haven't been able to yet.

Thanks for the offer.

Now I'm concerned. Today this--whatever it is--showed up on my IE browser (I use both Firefox and IE). Both times it showed up as my first tab. The tab reads "Eskeepass.com." The page has a snowman theme and a Google search bar in the middle of the page. It is not listed as an add-on in either Firefox or IE. I ran a full scan using fully updated Malewarebytes, but it came up clean. I also ran a search for "Eskeepass" on my computer and got nothing. A Google search for Eskeepass.com using McAfee safe search comes up with lots of hits, but all are labelled with a question mark. Any help to get rid of this thing will be greatly appreciated.

Download and Install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full Scan. http://www.malwarebytes.org/. This helps check that there are no viruses on your computer causing issues. You can uninstall this program after you clean off any infections.

Then, Reset Firefox Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

See above...I did do that--Malewarebytes came up clean.
