[Aurora 23] Change search behavior back to the way it was in Aurora 22 and previous versions?

With Aurora 23, typing something in the location bar no longer does a Google search but uses the engine last picked in the search bar. This is very annoying since I'm used to just search whatever I need by typing it into the location bar. Is there a setting I can change to revert back to the old behavior?

hello, this is due to Bug #738818 (consolidate Firefox search preferences). there is no internal setting which would allow you to change that. hopefully someone will come up with an addon which can bring back the old behaviour...

A possibility is to use a keyword search (define 'g' for Google) in the location bar.
I always do this and leave keyword.enabled set to false.

Hopefully this will get fixed soonest. This was not a very good change and I have to jump through a few more hoops whenever I want to do a really quick search.

you can use this addon which was developed in the meanwhile: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/keyword-search/
