My seamonkey installation crashes too much so I have installed Firefox and Thunderbird. I need to import profile data (passwords, address book, emails) from Seamonkey to the new programs. How can I do it?

You can copy the signons.sqlite and key3.db files from the SeaMonkey profile folder to the Firefox profile folder.

Update Firefox to the latest version. Old versions contain security vulnerabilities that put your computer at risk.

Importing into Thunderbird is pretty straightforward.

  1. Click the menu icon (it looks like 3 horizontal lines) in the top right corner of the window. Open the Tools submenu, then choose Import.
  2. Choose Import Everything and click the Next button.
  3. Choose Seamonkey 2 or later then click the Next button.
  4. Click the Finish button.

In case of problems, please head over to the Thunderbird support site and ask your question there.

To import into Firefox,

  1. In Seamonkey, type about:support into the address bar and press Enter.
  2. Click the Show Folder button. This opens a Windows Explorer window with your Seamonkey profile folder.
  3. Back in the Seamonkey window, open the File menu and choose Exit.
  4. In Firefox, type about:support into the address bar and press Enter.
  5. Click the Show Folder button. This opens a Windows Explorer window with your Firefox profile folder.
  6. Review the following article to see the kinds of personal data you can copy from one profile to another. Before copying anything, in Firefox click either the File menu or the Firefox button and choose Exit.
