When I access some websites Firefox allows Javascript to run. On others it doesn't which causes menus not to be displayed and website access counts to show 0000. I've updated the Javascript to the latest version and gone to the about:config to make sure the Javascript toggle is turned on. I am running Firefox version 26. How do I tell if javascript is active for a particular site and how do I turn it back on for websites where it is turned off.

I finally found the problem. I have a program call Adguard that blocks popups. When I disable the program the sites displayed properly. I've emailed Adguard to see how to adjust their program to correct the problem.

hello andy, javascript is built-right into the browser (not to be confused with the java plugin). once it is enabled in about:config, it will be active on all sites you're visiting.

maybe you're using an addon like noscript that is blocking js on certain sites?

I checked my Add-ons and there is nothing that looks like it would stop java. I do have Java Platform activated SE7 U51 10.51.2.13. The only add-on I even thought might be an issue was AVG SiteSafety which I deactivated but didn't fix the problem. The baffling thing is that two url's that refer to the same site have different results.

Accessing http://www.bridgewebs.com/orchidislandgolfbeach/ doesn't start Java and the menu isn't displayed and the access count is zero.

Accessing http://www.bridgewebs.com/cgi-bin/bwoc/display.cgi?pid=display_home&club=orchidislandgolfbeach&sessid=765204256007779 which refers to the same website now displays the menu on the left side of the screen and the access count is at this time 337.

I became aware of this issue while I was setting up this site for our bridge club. However, I have found another website where Firefox doesn't seem to let java run. I am missing the menu and count on my computer but not on my wife's computer which is also running Firefox.

I am baffled and any suggestions would be appreciated.

During developing/revising this site, you may have made many changes to external style and script files. Occasionally Firefox's aggressive caching will fail to update linked files such as CSS and JavaScript files. Before panicking that your change is being ignored or the site has broken, it's always a good idea to try a full reload bypassing Firefox's cache. You can do that by pressing Ctrl+Shift+r.
