hello kaywell, first please make sure that the date, time & timezone are set correctly on your system. if this doesn't solve the issue (or it is already set properly), a possible solution depends on different factors:
- what is the error code shown under technical details on the error page?
in case the error code equals sec_error_unknown_issuer, please attempt to add an exception on the bottom of the error page (but don't do it for real) and inspect the certificate (see the screenshot attached for instructions):
- which issuer information does the certificate contain?
please report back with those pieces of information. thank you!
getting very frustrated going back and forth from chrome to this.... i got the sec_error_unknown_issuer without the exception button the screen you sent is not what i get it has a "get me out here" button
ok, this generally means that an unknown instance is intercepting your secure network (in most cases that's either a misconfiguration security tool or malware) - it's important to sort this out!
please try a workaround in order to inspect the failing cert:
- first enter chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.xul into the address-bar
- on the interface that opens enter "https://yahoo.com" (or whichever particular url is failing to load) into the location server field.
- click on get certificate & view and see who issued it (like in the initial screenshot).
says that url is not good chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.xul can't go any where with it no options on screen
i updated my ytd video downloader last night is this the problem?
it works for me here - please double-check for typos...
The webpage at chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.xul might be temporarily down this is what it gave me am i supposed to be using firefox when i do this or chrome? i'm on chrome now so should i use firefox? what about the ytd update i did can it cause a problem with firefox?
yes, you need to do this in firefox to get a result!
chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.xul
this site attempts to idenify itself with invalid information unkown idenity certificate is not trusted, because it has not been verified by reconized authority
& now please click on the "view" button & report back with the issued by section as outlined in the screenshots above, which should hold the clue to what's going on...
ok this is what that area stated
cn DO_NOT_TRUST_FiddlerRoot
o DO NOT TRUST
ou Created by http://www.fiddler2.com
thanks, unfortunately the fiddler2.com issuer in certificates is usually a sign of unwanted malicious software present on your pc that is intercepting secure network traffic. please go into the system control panel and uninstall programs like BrowserSafeguard, BrowserSafe, SafeGuard or other software that sounds suspicious and didn't get installed by you intentionally. reference: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/982532#answer-520145
afterwards, run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner.
