when I went to download let's say procon latte content filter, it would give me an error for my android saying that my version of Firefox is not compatible. (the version I have is 34.0.1 ) I went on to the firefox update to try to update it and according to it my Firefox version is "up to date" . So what can I do. I have tried downloading a lot of different add-ons for parental controls, so what can I do?

hello JRm1, not all firefox extension will run on android, those have to be ported by their developers - you'll find a list of compatible ones at https://addons.mozilla.org/android/ however on first sight i don't see anything for parental controls there.

if you control the wifi network the device is accessing then you might try a solution like: http://blog.opendns.com/2012/01/12/opendnss-free-parental-controls-protects-your-ipads-kindles-and-mobile-devices-too/ https://support.opendns.com/entries/42848890-Android-Configuration-instructions-for-OpenDNS

for filtering on a mobile connection you will have to contact your network operator to see if there are any options available...
