After many, many years of Firefox being my default browser, it's now become unusable.

About 6 weeks ago, the BBC iPlayer radio stopped working correctly.

Now the browser randomly goes partially or wholly black.

Also, when I close the browser (with multiple tabs open), when reloaded, it displays a single page. Closing & reloading again brings up the "well this is embarrassing" screen with the tabs listed below.

I tried the "refresh" thing - made no difference. What have you done to it?

PS: Typing this in IE.

What computer and Firefox are you using?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift (Mac Options) > key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
