Change print color options

I need to print emails from a Yahoo business account but I do not want them to print in color. There is no option to print in grayscale or change to black and white that I can find.

{ Ctrl + P } then hit the Properties button, after making sure that printer is selected. What ever settings or preferences are available for that that printer are there. And it may not be the same for all programs you want to print from, based on my observations over the years.

Thank you but that does not work. What do you mean options available for that printer? IE and Chrome work fine with this printer. I can change color options each time I print if needed.

So you're saying thru Firefox you don't see the same options as you do with IE and/or Chrome?

Keep in mind that the windows for printer properties may not be identical in all browsers, the options might be on different tabs / pages or in a different order. But I would be shocked if the properties shown in Firefox didn't show a color / grey scale 'radio button' selector - that is one of the most basic features for printers.

What brand and model printer is that? Laser or inkjet? And could you provide screenshots that show the available options for both Firefox and for one of the other browsers?

Correct, you do not get the same options. There is no preferences tab to open that I can find. First 4 pics are from FF and the last is same email on IE. I don't think it is a printer issue. Seems to be something with FF. I can use my printer fine with both IE and Chrome.

Yes, there is no "selector" for Color / Greyscale. Clicking the Properties button in the "naive print dialog" box (your 1st screenshot) should have brought up Epson .... Printer Properties not a Document Settings dialog. see my screenshot of my Brother Printer Properties dialog

My advice is to see Epson support to ask why with Firefox you can't find a Color / Greyscale selector menu item. Not offered? Or missing? Updated drivers needed?

As far as the 5th screenshot of IE Print - yes, it 's different than "add-on" browsers and many other "add-on" programs that are made for multiple operating systems, in my experience it always seems to have more "selectors" or features thru IE. I don't think Windows allows the same level of "access" to Windows for 3rd party or addon programs that it does for their built-in programs like IE and Wordpad (for example).

Basically, the features and options in the printer software is determined by the manufacturer, but in the past (like 1998 - like 2007) the Epson printers I had did have a "selector" for Color / Greyscale (or Black only) on their low end printers (which is all I have ever had). In 2007 I switched to Brother brand printers for better Linux drivers (actually the fact that they even offered their own Linux drivers tat were full featured as I was accustomed to on Windows) and because Epson had added a "chip" to their inkjet cartridges to "encourage" users to use the Genuine (and expensive) cartridges. Yes, I did have problems with generic cartridges from time to time and may have ruined at least one printer by using the generics, but with what I saved in one year with the generics I could have bought 5 new printers - of course with "starter cartridges" that have 1/4 the ink of a Genuine replacement cartridge.
