HOW CAN I RETURN TO MY LAST BROWSER VERSION THAT DIDN'T EXCLUDE MY VIRUS PROTECTOR????!
I am very frustrated whenever firefox updates and excludes my virus protector. I understand they are limited in their abilities to allow for X number of different programs that people use privately. But why isn't there a setting that allows me to choose whether or not to use MY virus protection addon? I trust it a whole lot more than I trust the browser.
Is there anyone who can help me to turn Norton back on as an addon to firefox? And also turn off future firefox updates. Thank you.

The Norton extension needs to be update for each new major Firefox version, something you would learn if you have used Firefox for a few or more months.
If you check your Norton toolbar on the Add-ons page, does it say it was disabled because it cannot be verified? I have attached an example of that kind of message (first screen shot). To check the Add-ons page, either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. The disabled ones are at the bottom of the list on the right side.
Norton likely will get its extension signed soon -- and when that happens, it should be downloaded automatically through Norton LiveUpdate -- but until then you can make a global exception to the signing requirement; there's currently no way to only make an exception for specific extensions.
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste xpin and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the xpinstall.signatures.required preference to switch it from true to false -- note that this is for Firefox 43 only

Thank you so much! Yes, it did say that it was not able to verify or something to that effect. I wasn't brave enough to tackle your fix (I am technologically Amish), so I waited, as you said, and sure enough, they updated things quickly. (God, grant me patience - and do it right now!!)

The post by jscher2000 is only a temp fix (will not work on Firefox 44.0 and later) for extensions not signed and is not needed for the Norton toolbar if you update it from Norton as per https://community.norton.com/en/blogs/product-update-announcements/firefox-43-limited-compatibility-norton-toolbar
