I need help please!

I am kind of in a hurry for my university admission and since I can't activate cookies I can't access there site.

I followed the following steps without success. I tried on two different macs and even reinstalled Firefox. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/enable-and-disable-cookies-website-preferences

I then proceced to follow the steps on this page without success. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-fix-preferences-wont-save

I really don't know what to do... I just want to activate cookies to access 1 page.... Please help!!!

"Use custom settings for history" allows to see the current history and cookie settings, so you can inspect and see them. Selecting the custom settings doesn't make any changes to history and cookie settings.

Firefox will show "Use custom settings for history" as an indication that at least one of the history and cookie settings is not the default to make you aware that changes were made.

If all History settings are default then the custom settings are hidden and you see "Firefox will: (Never) Remember History". "Never Remember History" means that Private Browsing is active and "Always use private browsing mode" gets a checkmark.

"Use custom settings for history" stays only selected as long as one of the History or Cookie settings is not the default to make you aware that changes from the default setting have been made.

What cookie setting are you trying to change?

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, history, cookies, passwords, cache, and exceptions, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

Ok so I managed to change after trying it on 3 computers.

I was trying to set Set Firefox will: to Use custom settings for history but it kept coming back to Remember History. I tried earlier what you proposed and it didn't change anything.

So a few minutes ago I just tried setting Set Firefox will: to Use custom settings for history. I unchecked Remember my browsing and download history and Remember search and form history and it finally saved the settings.

The problem is now solved but I don't really get why.

Thanks for the explanation!

But I have to say, as a graphic designer, this is a bad UX Design choice. This should be modified.
