I have a new computer. I transferred all my files over to it; however, the favorites folder is listed on my hard drive but I cannot import it into firefox. How do I copy/import my favorites into the bookmark portion of firefox?

Thank you but I figured out a way to import it right after I posted my question.

This is a difference in terminology between browsers:

  • Internet Explorer => Favorites
  • Firefox => Bookmarks

If you can see the Favorites in IE on your new computer, then you can transfer them to Firefox using the steps in this article: Import data from another browser.

If IE on your new computer does NOT have what you want, can you copy from the older Favorites folder into the newer one so that IE has the old set?

If that still isn't the right stuff, hopefully you copied over your Firefox browser data. Could you try this:

(1) Turn on viewing of hidden files and folders: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files

(2) Use the Start menu search box to launch Windows explorer on the drive where you copied your data, for example type or paste the following and press Enter:

C:\

Then in the search box at the upper right, use this pattern to search (it will take a while): bookmarks-2016*

Any luck?
