I had to re-install Firefox after a disaster on my computer. Since then, it seems when I am typing (on Facebook, in an email, in the address bar, here...) that the whole thing hangs for a nano-second and my words are missing letters; I can see the top of my screen kind of go blue for a split second- like it stopped running or something. After typing all of this, I had to go back and correct the missing letters. For instance... here's what it looks like if I don't go back and correct:

The ck red fox jumpe over tzy brown dog. She sells sea shells down by the ore. ter Piper picked a peck of kled peppers.

As you can see, there are missing letters. It isn't registering my key strokes, be it letters/numbers or spaces.

And, as I stated, I can see out of the corner of my eye that the top tab bar blinks and kind of "refreshes"...? Hold on; let me just watch that for a second. OK. The bar up in the right hand top, with the "minimize", "restore down" and the red "close" icons is what "blinks".... the whole bar kind of goes pale. And while that happens, no key strokes register.

I've had to go back through this whole post to fill in and correct...which, of course, takes me twice as long. (I'm not a super fast typer, but I'm not a hunt and peck either)

So what's going on? (It does it without add-ons, no other tabs open.) Thanks for any help!!

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.
