Occasionally I find that Firefox will not connect to any web site. IE usually has the same problem when Firefox can't connect.. I can ping a remote site, but it seems that Firefox just comes up with new tabs without connecting. I have Firefox set to load Google on the first tab and Hotmail on the second tab. I think this problem started after Microsoft started jamming Windows 10 down our throats. The second computer on our home network also has the same problem, usually at the same time.

Thanks in advance for your help,

James M Driskell

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet. {web link}

If the above does not help, disable your protection programs as a test.
