Removing Library Proxy
I have a library proxy from a previous university installed in Firefox. When I search, e.g. Google Scholar, and find an article with a link, the link opens the university library to which I no longer have access. I would like to remove the old proxy and change to the current library. Procedure? Thanks.

We had this question come up before with Google Scholar but the thread was left dangling, so I don't know whether this was helpful:
Poster: Clearing cookies did not stop Google Scholar links from going to the previously affiliated institution's login page.
Me: In that case, it probably is saved in your Google account. Did you check the settings page to see if it's stored there? Maybe "Library Links" in the left column? https://scholar.google.com/scholar_settings
Old thread: google scholar is chosing a proxy library and I can't find and/or delete where is setting is kept in Firefox (unsolved)
Sorry, that is not the problem. I think I need to reconfigure the browser, not set up Google Scholar (it has not library or proxy settings).
Firefox has a proxy setting, but it's not site-specific. You can check that here:
- Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
- Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
- Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
In the left column, click Advanced. Then on the right side, with the "Network" mini-tab active, click the "Settings" button. The default of "Use system proxy settings" piggybacks on your Windows/IE "LAN" setting. "Auto-detect" can lead to a flaky connection. You may want to try "No proxy".
Are these links you're opening ordinary http/https links or do they use a special protocol at the beginning?
