Tbird takes a long time to "send" a message. I sometimes get a message that the server "timed out". When this happens my message is not saved in Drafts or Sent, and my message is deleted. I have verified my imap settings, port settings, security settings. I think Tbird is trying to do something to "Save" a message in "Sent" folder. It loops for a while through this incorrect routine and fails when the server times out. No connection is made to the server. Tbird gives up an fails to save the message anywhere. I am left with no message to attempt a re-send. It just fails.

This is the error message returned: An error occurred while sending mail: Outgoing server (SMTP) error. The server responded: Service not available, closing transmission channel.

The service is NOT down. I checked. Tbird appears to be lost.
