How can I save my yahoo mail on Thunderbird as well as on yahoo webmail. And How can I download only selected email from yahoo webmail?
I have setup yahoo mail using IMAP on my Thunderbird mail.
Mostly I am going to use yahoo mail on Thunderbird just to send emails. And I might download few emails from yahoo WebMail as and when required. Though I don't want to sync or download on a regular basis. - Just as and when required!
My Setup: Server Name: imap.mail.yahoo1.com ( I mentioned wrong server name so it won't download yahoo emails. I will make it imap.mail.yahoo.com as and when required.)
SMTP Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
I am able to send emails from Thunderbird using yahoo and save it in a Local Folder.
Questions:
1. How can I save my yahoo mail on Thunderbird as well as on yahoo webmail. - I am able to save it on Thunderbird but don't know how can I save it on WebMail without Sync. Whatever email I sent it from yahoo thunderbird, just wants to save it on Sent Folder of yahoo webmail.
2. How can I download only selected email from yahoo webmail to thunderbird yahoo mail?

1. How can I save my yahoo mail on Thunderbird as well as on yahoo webmail.
Imap mail accounts see a remote view of the server folders. You subscribe to see folders.
- Right click on imap mail account in Folder Pane and select: 'Subscribe'
- put a check in the 'Sent' checkbox and click on 'Subscribe'
- click on OK
So the server folders are one and the same as the ones in Thunderbird. If you delete an email either via webmail or thunderbird it effects both webmail and Thunderbird.
You can choose to only download headers or synchronise all or specific folders. You can choose to only download xx number of days, so that older emails are not downloaded.
Good info here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/imap-synchronization
re :My Setup: Server Name: imap.mail.yahoo1.com ( I mentioned wrong server name so it won't download yahoo emails. I will make it imap.mail.yahoo.com as and when required.)
If you do not want any synchronising to occur then go into offline mode. You can set Thunderbird up so that it always starts in offline mode. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Offline_folders
You can also set thunderbird up to synchronise before going into offline mode, so you have a full set of emails which you can deal with in offline mode.
I don't see any folders at all.
Clicked on Refresh many times but still not able to see any folders.
When I click on Refresh - it's connect to server but don't see any folders.
I don't want to sync from yahoo web mail to Thunderbird but wants to make sure that ThunderBird sent email on yahoo web mail.

I don't see any folders at all.....I don't want to sync from yahoo web mail to Thunderbird
If you have an imap mail account you have to subscribe to see the folders and you have to synchronise to see those folders and the contents therein because the folders and emails are on the server not on your computer. When you send an email it stores in the server Sent folder, so you have to subscribe to see it and synchonise with server to save to that folder.
What settings have you selected in the Account Settings > Synchronisation & Storage' ? Right click on mail account in Folder Pane and click on 'Settings' select 'Synchronisation & Storage' Have you selected 'Keep messages for this account on this computer' ?
Did you click on 'Advanced' button ? What folders are listed and selected ? 'Sent' must be selected. If you want to see any other emails in any other folders when working offline then they have to be selected. Post images to show settings.
If you do not want to see any folder except 'Sent'...Have you subscribed to see the 'Sent' folder ?
Right click on mail account in Folder Pane and click on 'Subscribe'
Do you see a list of folders ?
Select 'Sent' and click on 'Subscribe'
click on OK.
The other option would be to create a new existing mail account and set up as POP (not imap).
Pop mail acounts can only access and downloads from the server Inbox. Inbox emails are stored in Thunderbird pop mail account... it is not a remote view like imap. It does not see any other folder on server. Sent mail is only stored on computer in pop mail account 'Sent' folder. There is no synchronising of folders.
If you really do not want to see any new mail or anything stored in the server Inbox......after creating the pop mail account - before you download anything - change the Account Settings > Server Settings Uncheck: check for new mail at startup Uncheck: check for new messages every xx minutes Uncheck : 'Automatically download new messages'
Select: 'Leave messages on server' (This ensures emails are also kept on server - but you may need to keep an eye on the server quota as it is usually less for a pop mail account as it is assumed you are downloading emails to store on your computer.) click on 'OK'
This will allow you to send but never receive anything until you change those pop server settings, but then it will download whatever is in the server Inbox.
