When I drag and drop image files from Firefox to my desktop (png, jpg, etc.) the extension gets lost and I ave to manually add it back on to the file name. This occurs with Firefox 57 on both Yosemite and Sierra.

Note: it could be other files types as well, but I have only tested with image files.

Known issue is being looked into:

Here is a work-around: 1. Click on the file image on your desktop 2. Go to finder - click FILE 3. In file drop-down click on - OPEN WITH - choose FIREFOX FIREFOX

A new Firefox window opens with the image. Drag the image to desktop and it will be visible showing thumbnail image like it did in the past. And you can view it in preview.

My apologies, while the problem IS being looked into -- you can use the workaround.
