slow or unresponsive after a few hours, major memory hog

usually have to use task mgr to abort firefox, then when it restarts, reopen all the tabs, but it works remarkably well then, and for a while.

if left for hours, it's a memory hog, barely moves at all, often flashing "another page is slowing down your browser" or something similar with an option to "stop it".

Hi, sorry about that. As new questions come you move down the list, if move to the 3rd page tend not to look.

Are you still running version 59 ? To update and check go to Help --> about.

To be Checked and turned off unless needed for accessibility : Please : go to the Firefox 3 Bar Menu --> Options --> Privacy & Security panel and under Permissions check (put a tick in the box) the setting to Prevent Accessibility Services from accessing your browser.

Multi-Processor Support : Go to the 3 Bar Menu then Options --> General --> Performance and untick everything. change the recommended size lower then see how it runs. Note: 1 = No Multiprocessor = slow again. Try 2 Restart Firefox after making these changes please. Note : Hardware Acceleration is for Video Card, Monitor to see if remain off or to turn back on.

Only turn off below as last option

Multi-processor Can completely disable it this way in about:config : dom.ipc.processCount set to 1 browser.tabs.remote.autostart = false browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2 = false

If low system ram or older computer might want to change to below

Firefox Extended Release Version : Firefox ESR does not come with the latest features but it has the latest security and stability fixes.

If do please :

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Hi, should have explained further support is done by Volunteers, users like you so we are not always around. We are also all over the world. So sometimes questions do get lost in the amount coming in. Again Sorry.

The permissions and processor changes have been made, beyond that, the instructions were confusing and I was getting lost in the weeds, so I went no further. Restarted firefox, and we will observe.

Totally understand volunteers. Thanks for the prompt reply.

A bit improved. I keep firefox open all the time. it becomes unresponsive now only about once per day, and I have to use task manager to blow it out. Even task manager takes a long time to start with FF is hogging all the resources.
