Thunderbird 60.3.3: sort order of folders has changed

With the latest upgrade to 60.3.3, the sorting order of my folders and subfolders has been rearranged. Instead of 000-foldername coming first, and 0-foldername coming last, it's been reversed, so that 0-foldername is now at the top.

The result is that the less important subfolders under a main folder are at the top of the list, and the most-used ones have dropped to the bottom.

I have a busy life (don't we all?) and until today, I was able to keep reasonable track of my many emails. Now, with Christmas only 4 days away, I'm going to be forced to waste a LOT of time renaming all my mail folders & subfolders.

Any ideas if this is a deliberate action on the part of Thunderbird, or a grievous bug that will be fixed?

I don't know what happened in your setup, but instead of renaming folders, it might be easier to use Manually Sort Folders to arrange the folders and accounts in the desired order:
