In video chat rooms when I get to Allow or Deny box to turn on cam, my mouse does not work in that box, I am on a Mac and it will work in Safari, but not in Firefox. Anyone know how to get the Allow button to work?

Hello knap3,

Would you try this please :

When you're on that site, click on the 'i' in a circle, next to the padlock at the left side of the address bar.

Then click on the little black arrow on the dropdown (next to 'Connection') and then on "More Information", which will take you to "Page Info".

Click on the 'Permissions" tab and scroll down to "Use the Camera". Uncheck "Use Default" and check "Allow".

Then close and restart Firefox.

Any luck  ?

Bummer ......

Stab in the dark - would you check this please :

Preferences => Add-ons => Plugins :

Make sure that "Shockwave Flash" is set to "Always Activate"

If that doesn't make a difference either, would you take a look at this article and see if you can find anything helpful there :

Hello again. I wanted to tell you that your first advice did the trick, but in order for it to work, I had to reboot the computer not just restart firefox. Thanks again.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
