Just set up the Thunderbird app for the first time. Mail is moving in both directions, and the IMAP Server's database loaded into TB's just fine. However, Sent mail did not sync. I presume that's because the IMAP server uses the name "Sent Items" rather than "Sent".

I also presume ... If I create a "Sent" mailbox at the server, and map the "Sent Items" contents into it, the protocals will discover that new mailbox, and sync. True? I presume, also, that its place in the server's hierarchy may need to be the same.

A further presumption is that it will be better to do this remapping at the server, rather than doing it in the TB mailbox structure. Future plans are for moving other computers I own to TB. If there is a good reason to do the mapping in TB instead, I'm certainly willing. If so, I would like to understand the rationale. Inquiring minds, and all that ...

Thanks in advance!

Subscribe to Sent Items by right-clicking the account in the Folder Pane, Subscribe, Refresh, check the box for Sent Items, then in the Copies & Folders section of Account Settings, set the target for sent messages to Sent Items on the IMAP server. It shouldn't be necessary to remap any folders.
