How to recover passwords from logins.json-1.corrupt?

I opened Firefox as usually, but passwords are missing, only logins are available. There is also a file called logins.json-1.corrupt in the profile folder.

Renaming it back to logins.json with restarting the computer does not work.

There are no previous versions of these two files available in the system.

Please let me know how I can recover passwords, may be with a special software.

Thank you!

Is the corrupt file at least valid JSON if you change the file extension to .json and open the file in a Firefox tab ?

This could possibly be a problem with the key file (key4.db) if logins.json-1.corrupt is valid JSON.

Do you possibly have a logins-backup.json in the Firefox profile folder that you could use ?

I opened up the latest restore point, which is, unfortunately, the only one, and there are logins.json, its backup and key* databases.

I opened logins.json in Firefox, it shows an error message: "SyntaxError: JSON.parse: bad control character in string literal at line 1 column 16385 of the JSON data".

I can view data, but passwords are encrypted, for example: "encryptedUsername":"MDIEEPgAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAEwFAYIKoZIhvcNAwcECAb+PALiwWjJBAgcLfGB+eJvpg==","encryptedPassword":"MDoEEPgAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAEwFAYIKoZIhvcNAwcECAdwrtjsxUE2BBCrk5JkWVgoByw3KND/AB4j","guid":"{e54aba4d-75dc-4bdd-ba0b-4853d13839b0}","encType":1,"timeCreated":1508138865604,"timeLastUsed":1587111855678,"timePasswordChanged":1508138865604,"timesUsed":45}

"SyntaxError: JSON.parse: bad control character in string literal at line 1 column 16385 of the JSON data" that the logins file is corrupted at position 16385.

What is the file size of this logins file as it is possible that the part before the corruption is still useful ?

You can possibly check the raw data tab in the JSON viewer in case the corruption is only affecting a small part and not the remainder of the file.

There is some text and after symbol 16384 (last correct) go spaces, and then garbage symbols.

What can be saved here :)?

Hello,

I believe if you remove everything after the "timesUsed":4} (including the comma right after) and add ],"potentiallyVulnerablePasswords":[],"dismissedBreachAlertsByLoginGUID":{},"version":3,"sync":{"lastSync":0,"syncID":""}} it will then be valid json and have the correct ending, but you may need to re-sign in to sync if you use it.

I installed Firefox for Android, signed in with my account, and all my passwords, or at least a whole lot of them, got synced into it from Firefox cloud.

However, I could not export them into a file on the phone.

Please let me know how can I transfer passwords to desktop computer - create a new Firefox profile there?
