Some webpages resize the window but when the window opens in a new tab, the entire firefox browser is resized. How do I stop this from happening?
This usually happens when the window is resized in order to fit the smaller content/intention for a webpage.
I would like Firefox to ignore the window resizing (down sizing) commands when opening a window in a new tab and just display the window in full size.

Go into Tools > Options > Content and next to where it says Enable JavaScript, click Advanced...' and then untick Move or resize existing windows.
This is the only way to do it. I believe there is a bug filed to prevent all sites (by default) from resizing the window if there are more tabs open, but I don't think it has been fixed.
This option was already unchecked in my browser but I still have the problem.
Automatic window resizing is particularly annoying when reading multi page articles online. I like to resize the window to get rid of the side banners and increase font size on my high resolution laptop screen, but every time I go to the next page the window resizes right back to the small original fonts and I need to type CTRL+ multiple times to fix it again.
Internet Explorer 9 does not have this problem, it preserves the web page magnification between tabs or when tabs are reloaded with new content. Firefox misses the mark on this.
You can use an extension to set a default font size and page zoom on web pages.
- Default FullZoom Level: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/default-fullzoom-level/
- NoSquint: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/nosquint/
I have tried this but the Move or resize existing windows option is not there. Is there any other way to fix this.

You should be able to open the System menu with those items via the Alt+Space shortcut.
