Has anyone noticed in FireFox 4 a bunch of errant lines appearing in text boxes and search fields... especially when you erase text?

For me, the moment I start type (whether it's in a Google search bar, or here in this text box) a bunch of vertical lines appear after the blinking cursor, sometimes through text, or at the end of word wrap lines. If I erase, it copies the cursor all the way back, leaving black, brown, or gray lines in it's wake. Very annoying.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

In Firefox 4 Safe mode disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.
