I work on a Mac. With firefox version 3.6 when I hit "quit firefox" a window opened asking if I wanted to save my tabs. Clicking "save session" saved my open tabs for the next session. With firefox version 4.0.1 no window opens and the session ends. The next session begins with only my home page open. How can I save my open tabs in this version?

Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session.

You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session at any time.

There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default about:home Home page.

Another possibility is to use:

  • Firefox > Preferences > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

Make sure that you do not use Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox to clear the 'Browsing History' when you close Firefox.

"Firefox > Preferences > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time" "

You can use History > Restore Previous Session on Mac and other platform if the menu bar is visible.
Firefox > History is for Firefox on Windows and Linux with the menu bar hidden and the orange/gray Firefox button visible. I appear to have missed that the OP is on a Mac.
