How can I open a link in a new tab - it's not an option when I right click
When I right click on a link, I only have 2 options - 'Follow link' - which opens the link in the existing tab, or 'Open link in a new window'
Then below that 'Settings' is greyed out, so not available.
In the Firefox drop down menu, Preferences / Tabs, all boxes are checked.
I'm operating on MacOS X 10.6.8 and Firefox 15.0.1

Middle click the link with your mouse

'fraid middle click doesn't work! I have one of the all-in-one apple mice, so no middle button/wheel.
To replicate middle click the advice is to click left and right areas of the mouse together and the recommended short-cut is Command+left click
I tried both of these - they open the page OK - but in the existing tab.
Am I missing something obvious?!?
I do not use a Mac, but AFAIK right click to open a new tab should work on all OS s anyway. Probably something has amended those right click choices so try in safe mode to see if that helps. (But do NOT use the reset option at this stage it can be inconvenient to reverse the changes it makes)
Presumably the right click option worked until recently, what changes have you made since then ?
Yes right click does work on the apple mouse. It's just that 'open link in a new tab' doesn't appear as an option in Firefox. Right click to open link in a new tab works when I'm in Safari.
This is the first time I've tried using Firefox - so I have never had right click working, and have not made any changes to Firefox.
Two things happened when I opened it at first - it told me the version I had needed to be updated and I downloaded that. Then I got a message saying some plug-in was known to cause security/stability problems with Firefox and I clicked the button to disable it.
Like I say, today is my first time using Firefox and I was really just trying to find my way round it - I'd been wondering about changing from Safari to Firefox because I heard good reports about it. But if I can't get this sorted I'll prob stick with Safari!
Thanks for the link about Safe Mode. I'll have a look at it later in the day. The reset option may not be such a big deal for me since I have nothing set up and so no info to lose. I'll also try just restarting the computer and see does that clear out any kinks. But I need to just finish a few things first.
Thanks for all your suggestions.
