How do I stop Firefox 15.0 from asking to update version every day?

I'm getting pop-up screens asking me to update to a newer version of Firefox every day. I'm currently running 15.0. I do periodic updates, but I do not want a pop-up screen asking every single day if I want to update. I went to Tools > Options > Advanced and selected "Never check for updates" but I still get the pop-ups.

You could try the block-all-updates approach. In about:config, set these settings to false.

  • app.update.auto
  • app.update.enabled
  • app.update.silent

Why do you not want version 16?

I have 16.0 at home, but 15.0 at work, and I don't really need to be constantly updating things. Its not that I don't want a newer version, its that even when I download the newest version, I'm getting pop-ups once per day (one at work, one at home) asking to update, which is pretty ridiculous, IMO.

I have no idea why this wouldn't be set in the options to block these types of requests, but thanks for the tip.
