Recently my mouse pointer gets stuck in drag mode in Google maps. This is not happening using IE or Bing maps in Firefox 19. It does not happen using Tor Browser (based on Firefox 17). I disabled all extensions and all add ons to no avail.

Thank you for trying to help.

I tried all your suggestions to no avail. I even cleared cache...

As soon as I click on Google map (anywhere on the map) mouse cursor switches to fist and stays that way as long as I am on Google map.

On my laptop (Win 7 x64) I have the same add-ons, same plugins and same programs running in background and Google map works as expected.

Different graphic card, though....

I have the same problem after an update yesterday. Chrome gives no problems with Google maps. Problems with FF19 in Ubuntu When I load the page and move the map a little bit the map gets stuck and also the zoombar does not work. The menu for changing the map type does work but the changing of the map type does not take place. When I renew the page; then the new map type is visible.

Did you disabled Hardware acceleration?

Could you try disabling graphics hardware acceleration? Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.

You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.). Then perform these steps:

  • Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
  • In the Firefox options window click the Advanced tab, then select "General".
  • In the settings list, you should find the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
  • Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

@ iamjayakumars

Much appreciated your willingness to help!!!

For some unexplained reason, FF19 stopped behaving badly and moving Google maps with the mouse started working as before. Since I posted initial message, new Java version and updated Flash has been installed. I cannot claim that THAT fixed Google map but it works. Current FF19.0.2 works fine, too. Checking/unchecking hardware acceleration did not make a difference but I will remember that for next time.
