Me thinks it's time to drop Thunderbird. I keep getting annoying problems (such as can't download messages due to disk space, can't download due to virus), filters sometimes don't work, folders will lock up and can't be opened, etc. I've tried all the fixes for the disk space issues to no avail. Folders locking seems only resolvable by rebooting the 'puter. So as painful as it might be, it's time to return to Outlook.

What exactly did you try? And what is the exact error in the first place?

What exactly does 'folders will lock up' mean?

re: "What exactly did you try? And what is the exact error in the first place?"

Problem is covered by question found at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/989005?esab=a&s=you+have+enough+disk+space+to+copy+the+mailbox.&r=0&as=s I followed the various steps outlined there in the various responses to no avail.

re: "What exactly does 'folders will lock up' mean?" can't move anything to the folder. if i click on the folder, i cannot view contents. all i get is a busy icon.

rebooting the computer does resolve both of the above issues, but i don't want to be rebooting due to mail errors.
