Your adress bar doesn't do search anymore
Your address bar doesn't do search anymore. It searches only when two words are typed into address bar. I am WEB developer, pretty advanced user and after using firefox for more then 5 years as default browser for work and home I am changing it to Chrome and recommending to change it to all my clients and team because of your incompetence. I spent 2 hours trying every solution which could I found for most simple, basic thing which should be by default in any normal browser - search from address bar.
Platform: Windows 8.1 Search engine: Google

You could use the search bar, or you could switch to SeaMonkey, which is much more like what Firefox used to be.
Download the Mozilla Search Reset {web link} This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up and then resets your search preferences and home page to their default values, and then uninstalls itself. This affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.
What happens if you type one word in the location bar?
You can check this/these pref(s) on the about:config page and make sure that they have the default value.

You can reset user set (bold) prefs via the right-click context menu to the default value.

Note that it is possible that your ISP is intercepting queries and sends you to a specific search page if a DNS look up fails. In such a case you need to contact your ISP for alternative DNS servers.
