Normal operation of Thunderbird is when receiving a message containing a vCard, Thunderbird shows a little "business card" with an icon, the user's name, and email address in the message body. You then click on the icon and the vCard is added to my address book.

When I receive a vCard in my Thunderbird (v31.1.1 on Windows 7) the vCard is not decoded properly and all I see is the raw text from inside the vCard file. I don't get the little business card displayed.

I probably have some display option set wrong in TB, but I can't find which one.

I did install Thunderbird Portable on the computer, then copied my profile to TB Portable. When I open TB Portable I still have the same problem, just raw text, not the little business card.

I searched the Internet and found the MoreFunctionsFor AB extension, but that has not helped either. The extension allows me to save the vCard attachment, then turn around and import it, but that's too clunky to use on a daily basis.

As a test, I also setup Thunderbird (v31.1.1) on a different computer (Windows 7 Pro) and manually configured all my email settings (no old profile data). When viewing the same vCard email on this copy of Thunderbird, it looks and functions perfectly.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Schmood

My guess an add-on that did not make the transition to 31/ Try restarting from the help menu with add-ons disabled.

Restarted TB with all extensions disabled. Made no difference, the vCard still shows as raw text in the message body.

Have you tried opening the message containing the vCard in its own window or tab? I found the presentation of vCards differs between the small Message Pane beneath the thread list display, and the "full" display.

Zenos - That was a good suggestion, but the display is the same in a separate message tab as it is in the small Message Pane, just the raw text.

On version 24.8 (Linux) and on version 31.1.1 (Windows) the problem is the same!

If I fil the Vcard Street or CITY field Vith special national characters, the Decoding not recognise the vcard message.
