You might check out what platforms their featured bloggers are using to see whether you like how those works. Of course, blogs that get a lot of traffic often are on a paid account because they can attract sponsors to pay for it...

You might find a site to hire you as a writer, but otherwise, I think they just want to give you the software and leave all the other work to you.
