Is the following true regarding "firefox"...https://www.nsslabs.com/reports/browser-security-comparative-analysis-report-socially-engineered-malware-edition-7
I cam across the following information when I installed Internet Explorer 11 today-
"Internet Explorer is Safer.> http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/ie-welcome/win-7/ie-11/eie/
Internet Explorer keeps you safer while browsing by actively blocking 99.9% of socially engineered malware. Chrome, Safari, and Firefox can’t come close. Industry-leading SmartScreen Filter helps protect your PC from malware and other mischief makers."
Is this true statement regarding "firefox" when it come to 'social engineered malware'?
Looking forward to your response.
Regards, Andre

The so called NSS Labs tests are funded by Microsoft to perform this service that is why IE always seem to get the best results over the years.

Hmm, that report is from March.
Firefox uses a service supplied by Google to block fishy (phishy?) sites. As of the time of that report, Google was holding back on the full capabilities of this service for browsers other than Chrome.
I think recently Google might have upgraded the service it provides to Firefox, but I haven't seen any new data yet.
Either way, Microsoft's database may still be better.
You can supplement your browser-based site blocking with products such as the following:
- OpenDNS "PhishTank" protection: https://www.opendns.com/home-internet-security/
- This is free for home use
- Works by blocking your browser from accessing suspicious sites
- Security software that rates high in blocking dynamic threats: http://www.av-comparatives.org/dynamic-tests/
- The programs judged most effective tend to have a high list price, but due to competitive pressure, can often be found on sale
- Not sure whether AVIRA Free performs as well as the tested AVIRA Internet Security
