When I open Thunderbird it takes several minutes to download messages. When I try to do anything else in the application I get a "Not responding" message at the top.

Hello

Are you able to tell how big your data file is?

The profile is 2.8 GB

This came up in the context of transferring data files from an old laptop to a new Dell Inspiron laptop. I installed TB on the new laptop, then located and copied the TB profile from the old one to the new one and followed the TB help instructions for creating a new profile and copying the old profile data into the correct location. TB finds the profile data but runs VERY slowly. It was slow on the old laptop as well so the number of saved emails is certainly an issue, but it's noticeably worse on the new laptop.

A couple of other data points that may be relevant: (1) the old laptop was running Norton Security; the new one came with McAfee and is running that; and (2) after I launch TB, Firefox does not work at all. It launches but cannot download web pages. This happens even if I close TB and I have to re-boot the computer to get Firefox to work properly again.

I'm wondering it there are 2 separate issues here. Could McAfee be involved?

Uninstalled McAfee and installed Norton Security. Everything works fine now. Thanks for the pointer.
