Sometimes when I am browsing all my keystrokes go from letters to numbers resulting in me having to reboot my system and hope that it has cleared the problem. I can go into my emails and many of my bookmarked sites with no problem but if I type in either search box the letters are converted to numbers. I have security on my PC but have had all of it in use before without any problems at all. My security I use is Kaspersky and Malwarebytes Anti Malware Premium. I updated to the latest Firefox hoping that the problem would go away but unfortunately it hasn't . I only noticed the problem after the update before the latest one.

I also notice that although I can go into many regular sites via bookmark and use the keyboard for typing, after viewing a flash video the problem starts - not always though. The Flash video now seems to be detached from the browser too and has it's own window - I am not sure if that is relevant.

I have just found that the one site that causes this to happen is http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2646826 if I view the video then I can no longer get a letter to type just numbers.

What do you mean with numbers?

Are that ASCII numbers (0-9) or do you mean little squares with hex code?

Can you attach a screenshot?

  • Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot
  • Make sure that you do not exceed the maximum size of 1 MB

All I did was read your response and then opened a new tab and typed the word keystrokes in the search box.

As you can see by the attachment I have a problem.

Do you have any software that has anti-keylogging features?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

I tried that and went into my browser all was working correctly and I then added Kaspersky still ok then Malwarebytes and nothing made the keystrokes change.

I notice now that almost all the sites I go to are asking about plugins and wonder if that is anything to do with the problem but I am not that well versed to understand what is going here at all. I have disabled Kaspersky at the moment and cann't get the problem to reaapear at the moment but when I went into the BBC weather site and played the video the whole site froze and no matter how I tried to get out of the site I couldn't and had to use the task manager to close the firefox.

Please forgive my lack of knowledge - I am trying to help but am just totally lost.

I did look at the Malwarebytes report and found a report of the recent problems and will attach it here.
