gmail has no dropdown with my username, so NO LOGOUT. Privacy problem--how to fix
Gmail is supposed to have a drop down menu where my user name is. the carrot appears, but there is no drop down attached to it. As a result I cannot log out of gmail. ! this is a huge privacy problem. It also means that I am automatically logged back in any time I open "gmail.com" (even worse). From blogs,it seems this has been a problem for some time. Is there a fix^ Do I have to start using Chrome or IE^ Please give me a solution

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.
- Clear the Cache and
- Remove Cookies
Warning ! ! This will log you out of sites you're logged in to.
Type about:preferences<Enter> in the address bar.
- Cookies; Select Privacy. Under History, select Firefox will Use Custom Settings. Press the button on the right side called Show Cookies. Use the search bar to look for the site. Note; There may be more than one entry. Remove All of them.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;

Under Advanced, Select General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.
Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?
Then restart.

I did all of that--including safe mode----Nothing worked. I even attempted to block the cookies through "exceptions" and then "allow for session"; none of that worked either as google would not even allow any kind of login without a full "allow". (Remember "do no harm^ boy is this company incredibly demanding and manipulative. I'd rather pay money than give them all this access. Let me know if you have any other solutions to offer.

You could consider to switch to basic HTML mode for now if you can't fix it and possibly contact Google for support. Standard view and basic HTML view - Gmail Help: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/15049?hl=en
Click the link to confirm using this interface.
- Set basic HTML as default view
