Does the printing look like it is something behind the Firefox window, in other words, due to "Aero" translucence? Or is it from some other, unknown source?
Could you check for possible updates to your Nvidia graphics drivers? If the mystery text looks like garbage pixels, it could indicate that Firefox is not fully compatible with the version you have. This article has suggestions on getting those updates: Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL.
Nividia drivers are up to date. I just reinstalled Firefox and had no problems previously with incompatibility. My homepage had been ABC News and on really close examination I noticed the writing had ABC News in it. I changed my homepage and the writing now reflects the new homepage.????
Is the problem that the address is hard to read in the address bar -- fuzzy, obscured, faint -- or that the address is also appearing in an unexpected location or overlaying a different element?
It had been a line of text underneath the words of the menu bar. Now I am seeing additionally, preceding the regular words of the menu bar, an orange button with Firefox on it with the option of a drop menu. Said button does not overlap the words of the menu bar. In the process of attempting to fix another problem I installed the Classic Theme Restorer. The new button may have come from this.
Hi marilyn, yes, the Firefox 4-28 "orange Firefox button" is restored by Classic Theme Restorer. If you plan on keeping that extension, you can go through its extensive settings from the Add-ons page. Either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. On the right side, find Classic Theme Restorer and click its Options button. I think the orange Firefox button is called the "Application button" in this dialog.
To be honest, I'm not sure I fully understand where things are in your toolbars. Would you mind posting a screen shot of that area? This article has tips on doing that: How do I create a screenshot of my problem? Please cut out or blur out any sensitive information from the image file before attaching it to a reply.
For one I do not like and have never had the orange button. I will get back to this asap as I have to step away now due to a sick dog. I will complete the steps you mention asap. Thank you for your tiem.
Back to it on this question; Orange button still gone, thankfully. One major change, as you may note on the screenshot,on the upper left the bar at the top left shows whereas I have not seen it before and I have used Firefox for a few years. This line of print is probably what was under the File, Edit....... line, which is now clear and legible.
I would call the part at the very top the Title Bar. When you turn that on in Firefox's Customize pane, it should create enough space for itself to avoid overlapping with the Menu Bar. I'm not sure why it overlapped before, but if Classic Theme Restorer has fixed it, that probably is a good workaround for now.
