Disappointed with you Mozilla

more options

I am very disappointed with you Mozilla. Now you won't even let me view flash videos, even on Youtube, unless I click on the link or pop up to activate the adobe plugin. This is a very serious issue with me since you claim that even the latest version, 18.0.0.203 that was released 7/8/15, is unstable! The inability to set flash to always activate is unacceptable! I DO NOT WANT to have to CONSTANTLY MANUALLY activate flash until they put out a new release! I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY SECURITY PROBLEMS REGARDING THE FLASH LEAKS BEFORE and I would appreciate you give your users to be able to set these so called unstable plugins to always activate. MOST OF US UNDERSTAND THE RISKS AND SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO KEEP OUR PLUGINS ACTIVATED IF WE WISH TO!

Not "unstable" -- vulnerable to security exploits. In the past few days numerous previously unknown security vulnerabilities in the Flash plugin were disclosed, and the current version is unfortunately not safe, by Adobe's own admission.

As you know from interacting with the plugin notification icon, the "Ask to Activate" feature allows you to activate Flash for the site while you are currently using it, or permanently, assuming you trust the site not to have rogue Flash content on its pages. This takes two clicks per site, and in my personal opinion, it's not the end of the world.

Since some sites only use Flash for tracking you or for playing ads, you should fee free to ignore the notification on sites where you don't see an immediate benefit to running Flash. It may simply not be there for your benefit.

The forum software detected your Firefox as version 28. Is that correct?

Version 28 is not secure; Mozilla discloses security flaws after each new release. Is something holding you back from upgrading to Firefox 39? Please let us know so we can suggest solutions or workarounds.

Perhaps this article from the time Firefox 29 was released is relevant: How to make the new Firefox look like the old Firefox.

If Help > About Firefox shows Firefox 39.0, you may need to clear the preference that is misreporting your version number. See: How to reset the default user agent on Firefox.

I refuse to upgrade FF because even with the classic theme restorer addon I can not get FF back to the way I'm used to. I have tried using that addon before and it is impossible to separate the back button from the location/address bar like it is with my version so I reverted back to version 28. It may seem trivial to others, but not to me. I like being able to choose to keep the location bar hidden should I wish to while keeping the navigation buttons visible. I can't do that if the back button is now permanently part of the location bar on newer FF versions. Call me old fashioned, but I like the way my "obsolete" FF28 is and I'm not about to change it.

I think with CTR you need to check the box for Movable back-forward button.

If you won't use a current version of Firefox, it would be safer to use a different browser. If you want a retro appearance, you could look at SeaMonkey: http://www.seamonkey-project.org/
