I turned Pop-Up blocker off, but firefox STILL wants to block pop-ups

I believe they are java scripts in the website that are calling the pop-ups, but I need to have these pop-ups displayed. I don't understand how if the Pop-Up blocker is off, how are pop-ups still being blocked?

I cannot send you an image of the website as it is an internal website and there is customer data all over the place. How do I disable all this extra security that I do not need or want?

The pop-up blocker is directed primarily to a particular JavaScript function, window.open(). If you turn off the pop-up blocker, then that function should run unimpeded by Firefox. However, some extensions do layer on additional popup blocking features.

Have you reviewed your extensions to see whether any might be responsible for this? You could test in Firefox's Safe Mode, a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any difference?

If your application uses plugins, such as Flash or Java, there is a separate setting for allowing pop-ups generated by plugins. This page describes it: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Privacy.popups.disable_from_plugins
