I know it can be quite frustrating when you are used to something and you wake up one day and it's gone. There's a sense of being lost that comes with it. That being said, you'll realize with every new update comes security patches that are quite important and also new interface changes. You can simply keep your installation and not update. I'm sure you'll get more better answers for contributors :)
