Mic not working correctly on websites
Im trying to get my mic work on Discord, but I tried it with other websites like onlinemictest and get the same problem. It also doesn't happen on Chrome, so its most likely a Firefox issue. I also tried it on my laptop and it didnt work. Both computers have realtek chipset.
When I connect to any website that request mic, it prompts me whether I want to allow it. There, I can select from 2 mic with the same name. Something like "Mic Realtec High Definition.." Which ever I select, the website doesnt get the sound from my mic. I also try to "allow" it from config:permissions but no luck.
There was one way I was able to make it work. Here is how I did it.
- Connect an audio cable and enable "line-in" in computer - Website A - set mic to "allow" in permissions - Website B - do nothing
1) Access website B 2) When prompted for a mic from B, select line-in 3) B will not pick up any sound yet (whether or not I have sound coming into line-in doesnt make any difference) 4) Access website A 5) Now, both website will pick up sound from my mic
This still works if I switch A and B.
It seems to me that Firefox is having trouble choosing which device it should listen to. I would appreciate it if someone can figure out the problem as it is inconvenient if I have to do this all the time.

Turns out it might be a compatibility issue with Firefox and Realtek sound driver. I tested it on my laptop which also has realtek and Firefox could not pick up the sound from my mic.
On my desktop, uninstalling realtek driver made firefox listen to my mic. I didnt have any issue with Chrome with the driver installed so I dont think its driver's fault. By the way, Firefox Hello didnt pick up my mic either so its probably not the websites fault either.
I dont have any other computer to try this out. Can anyone verify?
