MSN is my home page in Mozilla Firefox. Whenever I go there the home page is split. The Header and a short advertisement is at the top of the page, then there is a huge blank gap as I scroll down the page until I reach the body of the News, Entertainment, Sports, and other sections of the rest of MSN's home page. How can I remove the large blank space?

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Hello,

It looks like this might be a bug in the MSN.com website. You can report such bugs at webcompat.com.

I'm not seeing this on Linux with the main page.

Firefox 42+ has a new Tracking Protection feature that is enabled by default in Private Browsing mode. You can see a shield icon at the left end of the location/address bar when you are in private browsing mode and some content is possibly blocked. You can disable this feature in "Options/Preferences > Privacy".

  • Options/Preferences > Privacy: "Use Tracking Protection in Private Windows"

Thank you for your response. I sent the problem description to webcompat.com. I was not able to send a screenshot as that file was too large. I also turned off the tracking protection feature in Private Browsing with no change in the problem. The entire home page loads just fine and appears on the screen properly for about a second before it splits in two. Something else appears to load then as I see a brief flash of info at the bottom left of the screen before it splits, but it happens so fast I am unable to read what it is.

When i opened Mozilla Firefox this morning, it loaded properly and held its configuration. There was no split screen anymore. I don't know why.
