Hi,

I would like to know more details about how could Avast Antivirus reads and reveals parts of my passwords stored in Firefox Browser in Windows 10.

It shows the first and last words from my passwords correctly for yahoo.com, facebook.com, linkedin.com and other sites I have stored passwords with Firefox.

Thanks,

Marcelo.

If you use a MP then other software won't be able to access the passwords stored in logins.json unless they have installed a Firefox extension and you have entered the MP during the current session to unlock the Password Manager.

Do you have Avast extensions installed?

It is also possible that the software installs key logging software.

You can try to ask about this on the Avast support forum.

Hi cor-el,

You are right, it is a problem due to not setting the Master Password on Firefox.

I've used MozBackup to setup my Firefox, but not immediately after Firefox's installation.

So I was able to check that Avast's list of revealed passwords were took before my MozBackup running. I concluded that the revealed passwords were used before the Master Password setup.

Thanks for your help and attention.

Marcelo.
