Firefox attempts to open all sites using SSL.

If I type in http://www.facebook.com it will open as https://www.facebook.com.

I've been searching forums and trying the solutions offered - have tried the following:

In Config: browser.urlbar.autofill = FALSE

In History: chose "Forget about this site" and then re-booted - tried with facebook - after reboot typed http://www.facebook.com into the browser window and hit enter - it went to https://www.facebook.com

Tried in safe mode - still goes to HTTPS

Restored firefox to default - still goes to https

What haven't I tried?

That is a feature of Facebook and many other websites now-a-days, not something that Firefox is doing.
